Getting warmer...

We're closer to calculating our own student generation rates (SGRs). And we're using 2000 Chatham County Census data. But, we need to further partition our data, by either type of dwelling (single family, multi-family, etc.) or by number of bedrooms, to best project the number of students per proposed Briar Chapel residence. SGRs from such partitioned data should be significantly higher. Anyway, here's some numbers I cobbled together for Chatham County from the School District Demographics website:

from 2000 Census data

Even with all dwelling types lumped together, our SGRs for newer homes are 13-40% higher than Newland's 0.4.

(Note: thanks to the wonderful research librarian at UNC's Davis Library for pointing me to the School District Demographics website. To try it for yourself, go here and click data download on the left.)

Great table. When I go to data download, I get presented with a zillion options. Is there a trick to navigating all the tables and subtables?

Did you see how Pulte might get a pass on underwriting schools in Chatham?

If the current APF for Schools is eliminated, Amberly would be exempt for any school requirement however, Amberly would still be to pay the fees to Chatham County . If in the future the APF for School is re-instituted, Amberly would then pay the following amounts:

· One bedroom: $500 per dwelling

· Two bedroom: $1,000 per dwelling

· Three or more bedrooms: $1,500 per dwelling
